Prayer is the practice of the presence of God. It is the place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made. Prayer is the place of admitting our need, of adopting humility, and claiming dependence upon God. Prayer is the needful practice of the Christian. Prayer is the exercise of faith and hope. Prayer is the privilege of touching the heart of the Father through His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Here you can find inspiration for your own prayers, your own conversations with God. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation: when you have brought your prayers to God, give Him time to let you know how He answers you. Because God will always answer prayer, even if the answer isn't the one we expect.
Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life. I ask you into my life and heart to be my Lord and Saviour. I want to serve you always.
I exist in a web of relationships - links to nature, people, God. I trace out these links, giving thanks for the life that flows through them. Some links are twisted or broken: I may feel regret, anger, disappointment. I pray for the gift of acceptance and forgiveness.
Almighty and everlasting God,
You hate nothing that you have made
and forgive the sins
of all those who are penitent.
Create and make in us
new and contrite hearts,
that, lamenting our sins
and acknowledging our wretchedness,
we may receive from you,
the God of all mercy,
perfect forgiveness and peace;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen. |
